METROPOLIS – Two people were arrested following a domestic disturbance a a fight with police in Metropolis Saturday.
According to Metropolis Police, officers responded to the incident in the 600 block of East 7th and spoke to the victim who said that the offender had already left.
She told police 27-year-old Sidney S. Adams of Metropolis was intoxicated and playing loud music in his vehicle parked in the driveway.
When she went to check on Adams, she saw him communicating with another woman. When confronted, Adams got out of his vehicle and pushed her to the ground. Her children were on the porch and saw what happened. She fled into the house with the children locking the door. Adams broke his way in shoving her again and throwing a chair. He also punched and broke the glass in the front door and left.
Adams was found at his parents home in the 400 block of East 6th. He was arrested for Domestic Battery and started fighting with the officers. His mother, 59-year-old Sheila M. Adams of Metropolis also began fighting with the officers and interfering with her son’s arrest.
A taser was deployed on Sidney Adams. He was taken into custody but still struggling. Sheila Adams continued fighting with officers and was also taken into custody. She was charged with Obstructing Justice and Resisting Arrest. She was released on a notice to appear.
Sidney Adams was charged with Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
