CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale is excited to announce that the deadline to submit photos for the Spooktacular Home & Business Decorating Contest has been extended to 12 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28.
If you’ve been feeling great pride in your scary décor this month, share pictures of your outdoor Halloween decorations with the City of Carbondale to be entered into our Halloween Decorating Contest! There will be two categories: Residential and Business. Entries must be within city limits.
The winner in both categories will receive a $50 gift card. To submit an entry, email pictures of your display to contest@carbondaleil.gov along with your name, address, and a telephone number to reach you at.
We know our community always enjoys seeing these entries, and this year we will be creating a map for folks to explore the decorations that took part in this contest.
We want to give everyone enough opportunity to submit for this contest and to make sure there are ample entries to be enjoyed, so we are extending the deadline from Oct. 23 to 12 p.m. on Oct. 28.
Another contest we are hosting is the Halloween Costume Contest at the Off the Rails: Carbondale Halloween: The People Brothers Band and Ernie Johnson from Detroit concert on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Downtown Entertainment and Events Plaza, located at 200 S. Washington. Contestants can sign up at the Carbondale Halloween table from 7-8 p.m., with winners announced at 8:30 p.m.
There will be four categories: Scariest, Funniest, Most Creative, and Best Family; each category will win a $50 gift card to a local restaurant!
We’d like to take this opportunity to remind people that Carbondale’s official residential Halloween Trick or Treat hours will be on Oct. 31 from 4-8 p.m. If you’d like to be part of the “Pumpkin Patrol,” the Halloween safety patrol sponsored by the police department, you can contact Randy Mathis at 618-457-3200, Ext. 402, or send an e-mail to rmathis@carbondaleil.gov.
