CARMI – A late Friday night traffic stop on Oak and 7th in Carmi lands a man in the White County Jail on gun and drug-related charges.

Carmi Police say 37-year-old John D. Smith of Carmi was booked into the jail for Driving while License Suspended, Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle by Driver, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of Property, Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Smith was also cited for Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration due to mandatory insurance.
