METRPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024.
October 23, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to an apartment on Lois Lane for a domestic. Upon arrival, officers learned that Lawrence L. Gibbs, 72, of Metropolis had struck the victim in the arm and stomach. Gibbs was charged with Domestic Battery and issued a notice to appear due to medical conditions.
October 24, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of Lindsey. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the caller, who advised Rosemary J. Bordoy, 48, of Metropolis returned to the residence after being previously trespassed. Bordoy was charged with Criminal Trespass and released on a notice to appear.
October 26, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of East 7th. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who advised that the offender had already left. She informed us that Sidney S. Adams, 27, of Metropolis was intoxicated and playing loud music in his vehicle parked in the driveway. When she went to check on him, she observed him communicating with another women. When confronted, he exited the vehicle and pushed her to the ground. Her children while on the porch witnessed this event. She fled into the house with the children locking the door and he broke his way in. He again shoved her and threw a chair. He also punched and broke the glass in the front door and he was leaving. Adams was located at his parents house in the 400 block of East 6th. He was arrested for Domestic Battery and started fighting with the officers. His mother, Sheila M. Adams, 59, of Metropolis also began fighting with the officers and interfering with the arrest of Sidney. A taser was deployed on Sidney and he was taken into custody but still struggling. Sheila continued fighting with the officers and was also taken into custody. Sheila Adams was charged with Obstructing Justice and Resisting Arrest. She was released on a notice to appear. Sidney Adams was charged with Domestic Battery and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
