CARBONDALE – The Drug Enforcement Administration 27th Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday.

The public can drop off potentially dangerous prescription medications at the lobby of the Carbondale Police Department, located at 501 S. Washington St., from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical substances, controlled, non-controlled, and over-the-counter medications will be accepted.

Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes, needles, and other sharps, illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine and vape pens with non-removable batteries will not be accepted.

Helping people dispose of potentially harmful prescription drugs is just one way the DEA and the City of Carbondale Police Department are working to reduce addiction and stem overdose deaths.
