METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, July 8, 2024.
On July 4, 2024, while on patrol, a Metropolis officer observed Charles W. Agan, 34, of Metropolis sitting in a vehicle on Hayden Lane. The officer was aware that Agan was wanted on a felony warrant. The warrant was issued by McCracken County, KY, for drug trafficking. The officer approached and Agan exited the vehicle heading to his residence. He was told to stop and replied “no” and entered the house. Agan was found hiding in a closet in a bedroom. Agan was arrested for the warrant and also charged with Resisting/Obstructing Arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On July 4, 2024, a Metropolis officer observed Benjamin G. Bates, 26, of Centerville, TN, driving a gray Honda on East 5th Street at Yasoda. The officer was aware that Bates had a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted and a computer confirmed Bates was still suspended. He was charged with Driving while License Suspended and Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He was released on a notice to appear.
On July 4, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to Guardian Family Services. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated she had an order of protection prohibiting Timothy A Scott, 30, of Brookport from having contact with her. As the officer was speaking with the victim, Scott again called her cell phone. She had received numerous calls from him. The officer and deputy from Massac County then proceeded to Brookport. They made contact with Scott at his residence. Scott was arrested for Violation of an Order of Protection and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
