JOHNSTON CITY – Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies were recently involved in a chase involving a woman who was found to possess a controlled substance after she tried to flee after stopping in a driveway on Prosperity Road near Johnston City.
Just after 8 p.m. on Friday, June 28, deputies saw the vehicle Jerri L. Stritzel was driving going south on Prosperity Road.
Deputies turned around and tried to catch up to Stritzel so they could conduct an inquiry into the vehicle’s Illinois registration. Stritzel is known to law enforcement through prior contact.
When Stritzel saw deputies turning around, she began speeding and fled south on Prosperity Road.
Stritzel continued for about three-quarters of a mile before turning into a driveway in the 14000 block of Prosperity Road where she tried to exit her vehicle.
Deputies ordered Stritzel to stop and she was taken into custody without further incident.
While conducting an inventory of the vehicle in preparation of towing it, deputies located a Schedule 3 controlled substance, Suboxone, inside a white film canister in a purse belonging to Stritzel. She was not able to provide a prescription.
Stritzel was cited for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer, and Reckless Driving. She was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
Stritzel was transported to and remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
