SHAWNEETOWN – Two individuals were sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections on Monday in Gallatin County Circuit Court.
According to court records. 31-year-old Joseph R. Flahardy, formerly of Shawneetown, was sentenced to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a charge of Residential Burglary.
Flahardy was charged, convicted, and sentenced arising out of his 2021 burglary of a home in rural Gallatin County. Flahardy will also have to serve a period of Mandatory Supervised Release of one year upon his release from IDOC.
The case was investigated by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Illinois State Police, and prosecuted by the Gallatin County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Flahardy was also sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a charge of Burglary for his October 2021 break-in of the Gallatin County Courthouse. He will be required to serve a one-year period of Mandatory Supervised Release upon his release from prison.
The Courthouse burglary was investigated by the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department with assistance from the Shawneetown Police Department, Ridgway Police Department, and Illinois State Police Forensic Division. The case was prosecuted by the Gallatin County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Thirty-eight-year-old Jereme Rigsby, of Shawneetown, was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a charge of Burglary resulting from a June 2023 break-in of a farm shop and theft in rural southern Gallatin County.
Rigsby will be required to serve one-year of Mandatory Supervised Release upon his release from IDOC.
